The Office of Economic Education at Northern Illinois University, often referred to as the NIU Center, has the mission of improving the understanding of economics among elementary and secondary school students in Northern Illinois, in order that those students will become effective participants in the economy.  Our primary means of carrying out this mission are to provide training and assistance in teaching economics to teachers at the kindergarten to 12th grade levels.

The Center offers the following forms of training and assistance:

Credit and non-credit professional development programs that enable teachers to integrate economics into their lesson plans at any grade level.
