Leadership Training Retreat Asian American Resources is hosting Leadership Training 101!
For the past four years, the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) has sponsored regional leadership trainings for Asian and Pacific Islander American college students across the country. State Farm® funded four years of APIA U: Leadership 101 in 12 regions per year. Every year OCA was able to train hundreds of students from campuses nationwide.
This year's trainings are structured to be interactive with a series of presentations and hands-on exercises and discussions conducted by two well-trained facilitators. The one and a half day training will focus on team building and the development of building relationships, self-awareness, and team-awareness. Exercises will help students identify and develop characteristics and skills needed to be an effective leader and in challenging the process and initiating a shared vision. The training will offer space for fusion of leadership and ethnic identity issues and how to use your skills to address difficult campus and societal issues. At the same time, it will present a leadership training that keeps in mind the viewpoint and experiences of Asian Pacific Americans and students of color. This will include how cultural influences have an impact on how you lead and the various issues facing Asian Pacific American students.
If interested in participating in Leadership Training 101, contact Asian American Resources, 753-1421 or email Michelle Bringas, Program Coordinator.
