Study Abroad Grants

As part of its effort to recognize and encourage academic achievements in all disciplines, The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is pleased to sponsor the Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Support Grant competition.  The competition is open to qualified members and nonmembers in all fields of study.  The Study Abroad Support Grant is designed to provide support as you seek knowledge and experience through studies abroad.

Each year, Phi Kappa Phi awards 28 Study Abroad grants of $1,000 each.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be enrolled at an institution that has an active Phi Kappa Phi chapter and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. He or she may be nominated by a Phi Kappa Phi chapter or may apply independently.

All applicants must have earned a minimum of 56 semester hours of academic credit but not more that 90 semester hours by the deadline. Also, at least two full semesters must be remaining in his or her academic program after participating in the study abroad program or internship.

Applicants must have been accepted into a study abroad program which must be taken between May 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007 (provide the letter of acceptance on an official letterhead as part of your application).

Your study abroad plan should relate directly to your academic preparation, potential career choice, and commitment to the welfare of others.

Students must be enrolled in an academic program at an accredited international institution during the study abroad period.

DEADLINE: The deadline for applications to be received at Phi Kappa Phi headquarters is February 15, 2006. Please note that this is not a postmark date.

Application packets may be obtained in one of three ways:

  1. Contact your local Phi Kappa Phi chapter or university study abroad office. (see online chapter officer directory ).
  2. Call Phi Kappa Phi Headquarters at (800) 804-9880 or send an e-mail to awards@phikappaphi.org and request that an application be mailed to you.
  3. Download the desired application packet(s) from the web: www.phikappaphi.org.
