Study Abroad Scholarship
CIEE PROGRAMS
For NIU students only
In an effort to make study abroad opportunities available to NIU students, NIU and CIEE offer scholarships each year to qualified students.
Eligibility
Available for NIU students only. Applicants must apply and participate in a CIEE program.
Award amounts
Semester or Academic Year: $1000 per semester
Priority will be given to an NIU student who plans to spend an academic year abroad. Students can only apply for the scholarship once.
Criteria
- Applicants must have completed a study abroad application, which can be picked up in the Study Abroad Office, Williston Hall 417.
- Essay: In addition to the essay required for the program, NIU students must write an additional one-page essay stating the specific relationship between the study abroad program to their academic program at NIU.
- Recommendation: One faculty recommendation in addition to the two faculty evaluations required by the program.
Application Process
Once your application package is complete, please send it to the Study Abroad Office at Williston Hall 417. A committee will review all scholarship applications.
Deadline for All Applications
June 1 for fall and academic year programs
November 1 for spring programs
Incomplete and/or late applications will not be accepted. Students will be notified within six weeks of the application deadline whether they have been selected to receive a scholarship.
