Sleater-Kinney

~PUNK GOES THE GIRL~

Sleater-Kinney Girlcore Extravaganza: "Indie rockers" -- "Girlie punks" --
"Small label crusaders" -- "Feminists" -- "Lesbians" -- "Post-Seattle sound vanguards"

Yeah, Sleater-Kinney has ovaries of steel to shine despite the above cliche labels. The
female punk trio emerged out of the rainy-day grunge scene of the Pacific Northwest when
men in flannel were groaning about some Jeremy kid and teen spirit. So, who are these
superwomen? Well, here are their personal profiles and other facts about the band:

Seater-Kinney, founded by Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker, was named after a
street in Olympia, WA. S-K used to practice in the band's early stages on that very street. Also,
the name is "all about Carrie and Corin" and their special fondness of the band (as they are
the two original members). Lastly, the members are from Olympia, WA and Portland, OR.

A beloved letter from Carrie in response to a worship letter I wrote the band:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9 October

Erica,

Thanks for your kind letter. I just wanted to write to you and let you know we'll be playing
a show in Chicago on October 24th at the Metro.

We just finished recording a new record that will be out in February (we'll tour then as well)
so we'll be playing new songs along with plenty of the old. Hope you can make it.

Carrie
