International Expertise of NIU Faculty

Quality teaching, research, and professional activities are highly valued at NIU. As a first-class comprehensive public university, NIU has a faculty that includes outstanding experts active in varied scholarly and practical pursuits. Many serve as consultants to business, industry, education, and government. NIU's accomplished faculty includes more than 60 Fulbright recipients.

Technical consulting has been provided by faculty to many different countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe with the core of consulting occurring in Kuwait, Mexico, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Germany, Egypt, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. The foreign language skills of NIU's faculty are well developed, and a significant number of faculty members are fluent in Arabic, Burmese, Chinese, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, and Thai.
