The Center for Southeast Asian Studies and the National Security Education Program are pleased to announce a five-day workshop for middle and high school teachers or teachers in training who are interested in bringing Southeast Asia into their curriculum. The workshop will run in conjunction with SEA Camp (Southeast Asia Camp), a new academic camp for middle and high school students. Teachers will have opportunities to learn about the languages and cultures of four Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. Students and teachers will enjoy Southeast Asian culture and arts and practice using Northern Illinois University's SEAsite, a state-of-the-art interactive learning resource for Southeast Asian languages, literature and culture on the World Wide Web. Workshop includes the following and more!

Basic language instruction (Indonesian, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese)
SEAsite instruction and practice with website developers
Access to and use of Southeast Asian collections (library and museum)
Lectures and discussions on Southeast Asia
Music, dance and craft instruction
Curriculum development sessions
Interdisciplinary undergraduate or graduate credits (3) for qualified participants
FREE housing and meals
FREE resource books and materials on Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam
