The camp will provide a working experience for high school students interested in  television radio and newspaper production. Campers will tour area  television, radio and newspaper facilities and work with resident specialists in their areas of interest.

Opportunities include learning to write for radio, television and newspapers, searching the World Wide Web for news and information, producing a camp newspaper, and developing on-air performance skills as well as
creating television and radio productions, learning to write radio and television scripts, developing television directing skills, audio and video editing, camera operation, audio engineering, and on-air performance, and learn journalism techniques in a state-of-the-art newsroom.

 The residential fee for the camp, including room and board, is $475.  Early bird special registration, before June 1, is only $450.  Returning campers are also entitled to a $25 discount. 

Grade Level
The camp is open to students who have completed grades 8-11. 

Camp Director
Matt Swan, Department of Communication, NIU, 815-753-6995.  Matt has been involved with media production for over fifteen years, working with WTVO-TV in Rockford and hosting his own show on WQRF-TV in Rockford.
