Facilities Support Gifts to help build and renovate Northern's facilities allow the university to keep pace with the changing needs of its students and faculty. Current gift opportunities to support NIU facilities include: Technology Enhancements and Educational Equipment "Smart" classrooms, featuring cutting-edge media resources -- videotapes, cable TV, PowerPoint programs, DVD recordings, laser disks and the Internet -- are becoming increasingly commonplace, and the creation of these classrooms at NIU is the latest reflection of the university's commitment to ensuring that its students receive a quality education. Private support from Northern's friends and alumni helps the university provide its students and faculty with the state-of-the-art equipment and classroom materials they need, from library books and laboratory supplies to computers and multimedia equipment.
