Rise to the Challenge! The Senior Class Challenge is the first opportunity for NIU seniors to show their appreciation for the many opportunities that Northern Illinois University has provided for them. Around the time of graduation, seniors are challenged to provide Northern with a gift that will leave the campus even better than when they arrived. This is a philanthropic way to give something back to NIU for the affordable yet high quality education that they received. The Class of 2005 is involved with history in the making here at NIU! Excitement over the new Barsema Alumni and Visitor’s Center is in the air, and Seniors will have a chance to participate in this very special project. This beautiful building will be located on Annie Glidden Road and Stadium Drive, and will be the cornerstone of our university. It will help to shape a positive first impression to potential students, host important events and meetings, and will showcase the accomplishments of our fellow alumni and faculty. The Barsema Alumni and Visitor’s Center will be an important addition to NIU’s main campus, and will enable NIU to move forward in reputation and excellence. This exciting opportunity will also continue the collaboration between a reunion class and a graduation class. The classes of 1955 and 2005 will combine their gifts to provide critical support for the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center. This new facility will be a place that all alumni—including the classes of 1955 and 2005—can call their own as they will use it to gather and reconnect with the University. The gift will be publicly recognized on the Alumni & Visitors Center grounds in appreciation of the classes' generosity. Get Involved! Students from the Huskie Telefund will be calling all seniors around the time of their graduation to ask for support toward the project. The caller will describe the levels of support available so the seniors may choose the gift that they feel most comfortable pledging. The student caller will also be collecting contact information from our seniors in order to keep in touch after graduation. With your gift to the Senior Class Challenge, you will automatically become a member of the Allegiance Society, an exciting new giving club designed to recognize loyal annual giving to NIU.
