Students can earn up to six hours of COMS 497 and up to three hours of COMS 407 for participating in an internship. Some of these hours count only as upper level elective hours, NOT as hours towards the COMS major. Each student is advised to meet with the internship coordinator in Watson 306 before beginning an internship. For three hours of credit, a student is expected to work 120 clock hours. Each additional hour of credit requires an additional forty hours of work.
At the end of the semester, the student must submit a 10-12 page paper describing the internship, and the employer must submit an Employer Evaluation form to the internship coordinator.
Employers interested in hiring interns from the communication department should contact the internship coordinator for more information.
