Daniel Valdez will be performing folkloric Chicano music and chronicling its evolution. He began his career when he left home at 17 to join his brother fighting against unjust treatment for farm workers. He is a founding member of El Teatro Campesino, appeared in and wrote original music as well as arranging classic 1940s tune for El Teatro Campesino’s film Zoot Suit. He also produced the film La Bamba about the life of Ritchie Valens. He has had roles in feature films such as Which Way is Up? and The China Syndrome. He performed opposite Linda Ronstadt in her stage production of Canciones de me Padre and had a solo album out on A&M. He has also worked with Carlos Santana, Jerry Garcia, Ruben Blades, Celia Cruz and Tito Puente in the Cinemax special Latin Sessions.

"Stunning giant screen images and a dramatic musical score by Daniel Valdez create a vivid, insightful portrait of the Mexican people and their culture."
