Academic Programs and Related Studies
Anthropology
at NIU is relatively small and student oriented. Upper division
classes generally have fewer then 20 students. There is an active
anthropology club and numerous opportunities to work closely with
professors (including summer field schools). Our undergraduate students
have done fieldwork in Southeast Asia, Europe, Sicily, New Mexico,
Mexico and Central America. While relatively small, anthropology
at NIU is large enough to provide students with a broad quality
education in all aspects of anthropology. Many NIU faculty members
are among the top professionals in their respective fields. NIU
anthropologists have been featured in National Geographic,
the New York Times, Nova, New Explorers with Bill
Curtis, Scientific American, as well as numerous professional
journals. All of these resources are right here for you at NIU.
