Marvin Rosen (1980)

It is with deep sadness that the Department of History announces the death at his home, on November 15, of Professor Marvin S. Rosen, who taught at NIU from 1963 until his retirement in May, 2001.  He will be deeply missed by his colleagues and by the many generations of Northern students whose lives he enriched.

The department has established an account in the Northern Illinois University Foundation (1425 W. Lincoln Highway, DeKalb, IL 60115) to receive donations in Professor Rosen's memory that will become an interest-generating endowment when contributions total $10,000 or more.  Checks made out to the NIU Foundation (with a notation such as "Hist Dept Rosen Endowment") can be mailed directly to the Foundation.  The postmark will determine the tax year if you itemize deduction.  Checks mailed directly to the department will be forwarded, together with your envelope and its postmark, to the Foundation.

Contributions can also be made online by following the "Giving to NIU" links on the university's home page and then using a credit card on the Foundation's secure server.  If you give online, answer the question "Please use my gift to assist with funding for" by clicking on the last option: Other. Answer the next question by specifying: History Department Marvin S. Rosen Endowment.
