Using the technology allows the cyborg to communicate in new manners. Often these new extensions create a uncharted means of connecting with others. The use of communication as the conduit permits the cyborg to establish facades and touch others in a unique manner.

Direct communication incorporates all of the sensory perceptions of the environment that a person can have. In each case of new technology used in communication, there is a masking. Traditional letters permit communication of words, intonation and enhanced perception of the author's perspective is difficult to comprehend. The telephone increases the ability to understand the tone of the other caller. The lack of visual contact minimizes the recipient's ability to fully comprehend the message and the messenger.
