COMMUNICATION AS VIOLENCE

Communication is an act of violence. When one person gains, another one loses. For example, the moment communication was established between Europe and the Americas (truth results in the denial of another. Whoever decides on the format and the frame of media, has the power to affirm some identities and to negate others. The portrayal of one context and one culture results in the violent colonialism of whatever is the "other." So every act of communication is an act of violence asserting who will "win" and who will "lose."

Like the cyborg invasion, communication has stepped into our personal lives and violently taken hold of our perceptions, our bodies, and our drives. Whoever controls the dominant form of communication in society drives society.
