Applied anthropology is located at the intersection of anthropology's
four subfields. It draws on the findings, methods, and theories of
anthropology and related disciplines to understand the challenges facing
the human condition and actively engages its practitioners to help solve
practical problems. Contemporary applied anthropology melds empirically
sound research with active engagement to sustain human communities.
